Slavery, once among the biggest problems of humanity, was abolished 155 years ago in the United States. The 16th President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln was the one who ended slavery in the country. In 1863, the Emancipation Proclamation signed by Lincoln was published, and slavery was officially abolished in the U.S. He was also the first American president who was assassinated.
