Despite the Arab League, the greatest support for Turkey’s Syria op comes from the Arabs themselves

The Peace Spring Operation launched by Turkey is successfully continuing with the help of God. Targets are being approached with extreme sensitivity – as expressed by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan – to prevent any harm to civilians – exactly as it was the case in the Euphrates Shield and Olive Branch operations.

One of the most important outcomes of the operation is that the side everyone is standing on has become clear. It reveals who is siding with terrorism and who is not, who is meddling in the region using the excuse of fighting terrorism, who really has what sort of agenda in Syria, and who is friends and foes with whom. The reactions also reveal all the stalling tactics made to date in the name of a solution in Syria. Meanwhile, in response to the shameful reactions on behalf of the Arab League (AL), out-of-control anti-Arab sentiment suddenly surfaced on social media and among the community. Yet, the Peace Spring Operation is also dropping masks with respect to who those speaking on behalf of the AL represent, and also reveals those betraying the Arabs.

That fact that the AL has never represented the Arab people, and that their real problems have never been on its agenda was always a debated matter. For years, they never tackled any matter concerning the real problems Arabs have been going through; they never did anything useful to address their issues. The vast majority of the waves of migration due to wars, coups and oppression within the country results from Arab countries, but the AL is not taking the slightest step regarding this. Despite possessing the majority of the world's underground treasures, their peoples are living in hunger and poverty. The unjust distribution of resources, excessive waste and corruption, as well as foreign dependence despite excessive wealth is the fundamental problem of Arab League countries. These contradictions are distancing AL countries' peoples from their administrators.

The most meaningful and mass reaction towards the disgraceful reaction by AL countries against Turkey, which has taken a real step in the name of protecting the region's Arabs and Kurds on top of these contradictions from which everybody is suffering, is again from Arab peoples.

There is never-before-seen Arab support on social media in favor of Turkey against the propaganda of the EU's leader countries' obvious troll army. The overwhelming majority of Arabs find Turkey's operation extremely justified, congratulate it and condemn their own leaders for opposing this operation. I have personally never seen such intense support in favor of Turkey on social media until today. Arabs have been tweeting with the #ArabLeagueDoesNotRepresentMe hashtag for days now in support of Turkey.

Leading Arab deputies, opinion leaders, journalists, academics, and people from all walks have been expressing their support to Turkey via their social media accounts with meaningful posts and ideas, while condemning their own countries' administrators for trying to obstruct Turkey, and falling behind Turkey with respect to protecting Arabs. It would not be wrong to say that such a large-scale rift has never occurred until now. Operation Peace Spring is causing the Arab people to question their own leaders’ legitimacy. Because Turkey has done something so justified, so on point that the Arab world's social conscience is welcoming this with great joy, kind reception and very sincere prayers.

As many as 108 intellectuals, diplomats and academics from the the Forum of Thought and Strategic Studies, an initiative made of Arab-Muslim thinkers that represents the civil society of the Muslim and Arab world, announced their support for the Peace Spring Operation with a statement, and called on to the United Nations (UN) to support the operation.

Therefore, it is extremely wrong for anybody to associate the AL's attitude with being Arab. This league has nothing to do with the Arabs. Arab leaders' relations with their own people is similar to the Kurdistan Workers' Party's (PKK) relations with the Kurdish people. The PKK finds its place in the cooperation of regimes imposed on their people from the outside. Arab leaders, who do not represent their own people, feel closer to the PKK as a fascist actor to be imposed upon the Kurdish people, even though the terror group does not represent the Kurdish people, just like them. If there are those who are having trouble understanding these Arab leaders' sympathy towards the PKK-affiliated Democratic Union Party (PYD) in Syria, which normally also represents strong Arab hostility within its ideological discourse, please look at the matter from this perspective. Their partnership is much deeper than meets the eye.

Those trying to present the operation as being held against Kurds or Arabs are acting based on the same point. Yet, both Arabs and Kurds know that this operation is being carried out to end the invasion that has become a reality in the region, and ensure that Arabs, Kurds, Turks, Alawites, Sunnis, Muslims and Christians live together and within "one country" in peace.

This is exactly why the greatest support for the operation comes from the Arabs and Kurds who are aware of this.
