Turkey's benchmark stock index opened the last transaction day of the week – shortened by April 23, National Sovereignty and Children's Day – at 1,315.49 points on Thursday, falling 1.13% or 14.99 points from the previous close.
At Wednesday's close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index was down rapidly by 2.55% at 1,330.48 points, with a daily trading volume of 15.6 billion Turkish liras ($2 billion).
The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 8.2700 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Thursday, from 8.1870 at the previous close.
The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate also climbed to 9.9600, versus 9.8430, while one British pound traded for 11.5600 Turkish liras, up from 11.4170 at Wednesday's close.
One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $65.10 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT).
