Turkey has become a popular destination for Azerbaijani tourists, with the number of visitors hitting a 62.27% increase in the first eight months of 2021, Trend News Agency reported on Friday, citing sources from the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
According to ministry figures, the number of Azerbaijani tourists visiting Turkey soared to 260,807 in the January-August period.
Azerbaijani citizens accounted for 1.87% of the total number of foreign visitors, according to reports.
In August alone, Turkey welcomed 74,557 Azerbaijani visitors, more than tripling last year’s figures.
Some 14 million tourists visited Turkey in the first eight months of this year, a whopping 93.94 percent increase over the same period of 2020.
