The Turkish Red Crescent on Friday distributed food packages among 500 families in Pakistan’s capital Islamabad.

The ongoing COVID-19 crisis in the country has deprived a large number of daily wage workers of their source of income.

The aid distribution ceremony was held at the Turkish Red Crescent office in Islamabad, which was attended by Turkish Ambassador to Pakistan Mustafa Yurdakul, Pakistan Red Crescent Society’s Chairman Ibrar Ul Haq and Turkish Red Crescent’s regional head Ibrahim Carlos Camilo.

Speaking at the occasion, Yurdakul said that the Turkish Red Crescent would provide food packages to 5,000 needy families in 13 different districts of Pakistan during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

The ambassador praised Turkish aid groups for reaching out to thousands of needy people in Pakistan.

The head of Pakistan Red Crescent Society, for his part, thanked the Turkish government, Ambassador Yurdakul and Turkish organizations for supporting the people of his country in difficult time.
