Turkish stocks jump 3.83 pct at weekly close

BIST 100 index surges 3,463.45 points from previous close, USD/TRY exchange rate stands around 5.80

Turkey's benchmark stock index ended the week up 3.83% to close at 93,809.09 points on Friday.

After starting the day at 90,566.41 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index climbed 3,463.45 points from 90,345.63 points at Monday's close.

This week, the stock exchange market was open only one and a half day due to the Muslim Eid al-Fitr holiday.

On a weekly basis the benchmark index posted a 3.55% hike. At the beginning of this year, the BIST 100 stood around 89,000 points.

During Friday's trading, the BIST 100 hovered between 90,295.67 points and 93,809.09 points -- 94 stocks on the index rose, three fell, and one was flat compared to the previous close.

Closing the week with a market value of nearly 620 billion Turkish liras ($106 billion), the benchmark index posted a daily trading volume of 5.46 billion Turkish liras ($934 million).

One ounce of gold was sold for $1,335.10 at the weekly close in Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets, versus $1,297.30 at the previous close.

The price of Brent oil was $63.36 per barrel as of 7 p.m. local time (1600GMT) on Friday -- with a day range of $61.77 to $63.59.

At the beginning of 2019, a barrel of Brent oil was sold for around $53.
