It looks as if British film icon Michael Caine's latest movie Best Sellers will not be his last after all.

“I haven’t retired and not a lot of people know that,” the two-time-Oscar winner actor wrote on Twitter Saturday, pulling back from earlier statements suggesting retirement.

Citing representatives of the 88-year-old actor, US entertainment magazine Variety also confirmed that he is not retiring.

“Regarding retirement, I’ve spent over 50 years getting up at 6 a.m. to make movies, and I’m not getting rid of my alarm clock!” Caine told the magazine in a statement.

Variety also reported that sources close to the actor said that “he is currently reviewing two scripts for upcoming projects.”

On Friday, in an interview with BBC radio, Caine said, “Funnily enough, it has turned out to be my last part, really,” referring to his role in the comedy-drama directed by Lisa Roessler.

“Because I haven’t worked for two years, and I have a spine problem which affects my leg, so I can’t walk very well,” he added.

“And I also wrote a book, a couple of books, which were published and successful. So, I’m now not an actor; I’m a writer. Which is lovely because as an actor, you have to get up at half past six in the morning and go to the studio. As a writer, you can start writing without leaving the bed!,” according to US magazine.

Also starring Aubrey Plaza and Cary Elwes, the film tells the story of a cranky author who has to begin a final book tour to help his publishing house.
