“People don't take trips…trips take people,” author John Steinbeck says.

With the irresistible idea of traveling around the world for years, this Turkish woman decided to leave home and work to embark on life-changing trips every year for two months.

Asil Özbay, an academician at Istanbul Gedik University, has been travelling the world solo on her motorcycle for the last five years.

The globe-trotter said that she started her journey to overcome her limitations and empower women everywhere.

Riding across South Asian countries this year, she said that Pakistan was one of the countries she felt most secure in during her travels.

Opposing the stereotypical media portrayal of Pakistan and Iran she said, "I wanted to experience Pakistan and Iran objectively and share it on social media, since they have been portrayed very differently in the media.”

As I began touring the country I realized the rumors were untrue, she added.

"Pakistani people treated me like their sister as they love Turkey and the Turkish people," Özbay said, commenting on the hospitality of the people.

Özbay also said that Pakistani police kindly escorted her from Iranian border to the city of Quetta for 600 kilometers due to border closure.

She intends to travel across Latin American countries in the upcoming years.
