A protocol signed Tuesday between two institutions will allow 200 Yemeni students to receive education at different levels in Turkey.

The protocol was inked between state-run Presidency of Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB) and Uwais al-Qarni Turk-Yemen Foundation, according to the head of the YTB.

“Yemen is the primary country that Turkey gives importance and shows sensitivity, especially during this period,” Abdullah Eren said at the signing ceremony of the protocol.

The Yemeni students who will be chosen with the “Yemeni Pioneers” project will have an opportunity to receive education at bachelor’s degree, master and doctorate levels.

Eren also said that the project was going to be carried into effect in 2019, of which applications will be made online.

He added that the YTB was ready to do its part in education and culture towards the stability and peace of the brotherly country of Yemen.

Eren said that they will train students who will contribute to the university departments in fields that are most needed in their country.

Salah Batis, head of the Turk-Yemen Foundation, for his part, thanked Turkey for its approach towards nearby countries.

“'Yemeni Pioneers' project doesn’t only aim at educating Yemeni students in Turkey,” Batis said, adding that it also provides leadership training to the students following the education.

It is foreseen that the students who are offered higher education opportunities considering the needs of Yemen will play an important role for the future of their country.
