Azerbaijan on Saturday has extended condolences to Georgia after the deadly building collapse in Batumi city.


In tweet posted on the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry’s offcial account, Baku extended “heartfelt” condolences to the people of Geogria, wishing a speedy recovery for all those injured.


 "The news on collapse of a seven-story building in Batumi city of Georgia very saddened us. We present our heartfelt condolences to the families of victims of the deadly incident and wish speedy recovery to all injured. Expressing solidarity with friendly Georgia," the tweet read.



At least five bodies were found on Saturday among the wreckage of a building collapse in Georgia, according to authorities.


"Firefighters rescued two citizens who were taken to the hospital, and pulled five bodies out of the rubble," the Interior Ministry said in a statement.


A search and rescue mission was initiated after a seven-story residential building collapsed in the Black Sea city of Batumi on Friday.
