The body of a Ukrainian woman was discovered by Turkish police in the southern Muğla province’s resort town of Bodrum, according to a report by Turkish website NTV.

25-year-old Kristina Novytska was discovered in her home handcuffed to a chair and with a plastic bag over her head after her relatives had filed a complaint with authorities saying that they had not heard from the woman in a while.

Preliminary investigations indicate that suicide could have caused the young woman’s untimely death as windows were closed, and the door was locked with the key on the inside; however police are not ruling out homicide just yet.

The report stated that the Novytska suffered from headaches and that she often traveled to her homeland for treatments, which could be one of the reasons she committed suicide.

Police have launched an investigation into the mysterious death as they obtained statements and are waiting for surveillance footage.
