Milos Raonic from Canada and Japan's Naomi Osaka, world number four in women's tennis, have advanced to the quarterfinal round in the Australian Open 2019.

Raonic defeated world number four German Alexander Zverev in Melbourne

6-1, 6-1 and 7-6.

The 21-year-old German was given a warning when he smashed his racquet after he lost the second set.

The third set saw Raonic surviving a tiebreak.

"I just tried to stay composed," said Raonic. "It worked extremely well for me today."

In women's singles game, Osaka beat Latvian Anastasija Sevastova 4-6, 6-3 and 6-4, advancing to the quarterfinals.

Czech Karolina Pliskova toppled Spanish Garbine Muguruza 2-0, making her way to the quarterfinal round.

Ukraine's Elina Svitolina defeated American Madison Keys by 6-2, 1-6 and 6-1 to reach quarterfinals.
