17-year-old Turkish football prodigy Ahmet Deha Sarıahmet signed a surprise transfer deal with European giant Real Madrid following his stellar performance with local Istanbul club Başakşehir.

Sarıahmet, who plays for the Istanbul club which this month clenched a surprise victory in Turkey’s top football league, the Süper Lig, signed a pre-contract agreement with the football giant as more details start to emerge.

“I hope to represent my country and hometown to the best of my abilities,” said Sarıahmet after the deal became public.

Noting that he needs to work to improve his English, Sarıahmet hoped to overcome this obstacle in the future.

Medipol Basaksehir won their first Turkish Super Lig title on July 21 to break the spell of the "Big Three's" hegemony -- Galatasaray, Fenerbahce, Besiktas.

The Istanbul side increased their points to 69 with a 1-0 win over Hes Kablo Kayserispor in a week 33 game, as they were crowned Turkish league champions with one game of the 2019-2020 season remaining.

Basaksehir became the sixth team in the history of Turkish top flight to win the Turkish league trophy, alongside Galatasaray, Fenerbahce, Besiktas, Trabzonspor and Bursaspor.
