The first batch of Turkey’s globally lauded Bayraktar TB2 drones is scheduled be handed over to the Polish army at the end of 2022, according to media reports.

"The first batch of the TB2 drones will be delivered to Poland next year in October, while the second is scheduled for April 30, 2023," reports quoted Wojciech Skurkiewicz, deputy head of the country’s Ministry of National Defense, as saying.

Turkey’s homegrown TB2 drones were not the only offer on the table, but are the most advantageous from an operational point of view, Skurkiewicz told the country’s Parliamentary Defense Committee on Tuesday.

The delivery of 24 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) from Turkey is expected to be completed in the next two years.

During Poland's President Andrzej Duda's three-day visit to Turkey in late May, Warsaw signed a defense cooperation deal with Ankara to purchase Turkish-made unmanned combat aerial vehicles, making the country the first NATO member to purchase Turkish-made drones.

The EU member state will also receive a training package in which a total of 192 Polish personnel are expected to participate.

Turkey’s combat drones had reportedly destroyed the Russian-made Pantsir missile systems in Syria, Libya and Nagorno-Karabakh, as Ankara’s deployment of UAVs was credited for the victories clenched by Turkey’s allies from Asia to Africa.

The Bayraktar TB2 armed UAV, which was developed and manufactured by Turkish defense company Baykar Technologies, has been used by the Turkish Armed Forces and the country’s Security Directorate since 2015, most recently credited for Azerbaijan’s military success in the Karabakh conflict.
