Istanbul’s landmark tourist attractions deserted due to coronavirus pandemic

As international tourism is taking a hit due to coronavirus outbreak — and fears about it, major tourist attractions in Istanbul, Turkey have fallen silent due to the coronavirus pandemic. Normally brimming with locals and tourists prominent tourist locations such as Taksim Square , Uskudar and Eminonu Square have become ghost towns in the wake of the COVID-19 measures, seeing unusual scenes with shuttered stores and empty streets. Turkey on Friday (April 03) confirmed 69 more deaths and 2,786 new cases, taking the death toll to 425 and the tally of cases to 20,921. Currently, dozens of settlements in the country have been put under quarantine as part of measures to stem the spread of coronavirus.
