Cambodia’s prime minister received the first dose of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine on Thursday.

Hun Sen and his spouse, Bun Rany, were given the shots at a hospital in the capital Phnom Penh, according to a statement on the premier’s official Facebook account.

Cambodia received 324,000 doses of the Indian-manufactured vaccine under the COVAX initiative on Tuesday.

The country started vaccinations after it got 600,000 doses of the Sinopharm vaccine from China last month.

Cambodia has reported 909 COVID-19 cases and no deaths since the outbreak started in December 2019.

It is trying to curb a recent spike in infections among the Chinese community in the city of Sihanoukville.

Travel curbs have been imposed on the coastal town, which is home to the country’s main port and has seen massive Chinese investment recently, authorities said.
