A Palestinian teen was shot dead early Monday by Israeli security forces in a suspected a car-ramming attack on a military checkpoint in the occupied West Bank.

Israel’s Magen David Adom emergency service said in a statement that the teen carried out the attack on the Jabara military checkpoint near the West Bank city of Tulkarem.

The statement said an Israeli security guard was struck by a vehicle and seriously injured, adding that security forces at the checkpoint shot and “neutralized” the Palestinian.

The security guard was taken to the Sheba Medical Center in Tel Hashomer, the statement said.

The Palestinian news agency Wafa identified the teen as Mohammed Nidal Younes, 15, from Nablus in the northern West Bank.

Wafa said the 15-year-old Palestinian died of his critical injuries sustained after being shot by Israeli soldiers.

According to the news agency, Israeli forces raided the teen’s house in Nablus following the attack and searched it.

Monday’s death came two days after Israeli forces killed Mohammad Salimah, 25, on Saturday near the Damascus Gate outside Jerusalem’s Old City for allegedly carrying out a knife attack.

A video shot by activists showed an Israeli police officer shooting Salimah when he was already lying on the ground. Another video showed Israeli police officers with guns drawn preventing medics from reaching the injured youth.

The UN Human Rights Office (OHCHR) called the Israeli killing of Salimah an "extra-judicial execution."

Several Palestinian and international rights groups have accused Israeli forces of shooting at Palestinians who do not pose any threat or danger to them and of being indifferent towards Palestinian lives.
