Following the latest detentions in Ergenekon investigation, General İlker Başbuğ met with Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and President Abdullah Gül on Thursday.
Turkish Chief of General Staff General İlker Basbuğ, who was expected to meet with President Gül, had paid an unscheduled visit to Prime Minister Erdoğan.
The meeting between General Başbuğ and Prime Minister Erdoğan lasted more than an hour.
The Prime Minister's office said that the latest developments were evaluated in the meeting which was held at the request of General Başbuğ.
General Basbug met with President Gül after his meeting with the Prime Minister.
Following the meetings, the General Staff made a statement saying that the Chief of General Staff has presented his views on Wednesday's developments to the Prime Minister and the President.
Meanwhile, Erdoğan also held discussions with Interior Minister Beşir Atalay and Justice Minister Mehmet Ali Şahin.
