Iran's former president visits Turkey

The public relations department of the Foundation said Friday that Khatami is to brief the meeting on the year-long activities of he Alliance in presenting a plan to check violence worldwide and promote the Civilizations Dialogue Initiative.

The UN secretary General Kofi Annan has named Khatami as one of the 18 members of the Alliance.

Spain and Turkey as representatives of the western and Islamic states have in the past two years been highly contributing to promotion of the Initiative, providing the Alliance with financial support.

The Alliance's plan is to be submitted to Annan in the final days of his mission and he would in turn ask his Korean successor to concentrate his efforts on materialization of the body's goals.
